this is one of the busiest times of the year for me.  i love my kids, but i will be soooo happy when everyone is back in school next week and we are all back to a normal schedule.  i have 2 weddings to edit, 8 portrait sessions to edit, a commercial shoot to prep for, digital files to ship, albums to ship, print orders to fulfill and about 5 loads of laundry and a messy house to tolerate while trying to juggle a 3 year old and an 8 year old for the next few days.  i have decided that my kids brains will not turn completely to mush if i let them watch two movies in one day and that my house will not instantaneously combust if i do not get to vacuum the golden retriever dust bunnies or to tackle the mountain of laundry for another few days.  : )

let’s just say today was the perfect day to get an email like this:

i know while you are sitting around melting on this incredibly hot summer day it might be difficult to envision cooler days ahead.  it is probably even more challenging to bring yourself to start thinking about holiday shopping, but if you can, then you can save BIG on a whitebox photo shoot. christmas is now less than 6 months away!

One month ago today I was headed to the hospital to have Mason… he didn’t come for another 36 hours but it was worth the wait!  I can’t believe he will be one month old tomorrow.  The saying “The days are long but the years are short” really is true.  He has already changed so much- you can never take too many pictures!

I did a little impromptu shoot with him yesterday.. trying to get some sleepy pics.  As soon as I took his jammies off he woke up..of course.

Challenge:  Get those pictures off your hard drive and onto your wall!  It is a daunting task…as I well know.. the wall over my couch has been bare for the last three years and I’m a photographer!  It’s really hard to choose a huge piece of art because you’ll have to really LOVE it for years.  So, I decided a wall gallery is probably the best way to go for me.  Here are some options that I really like:

My fav:  Perfect Picture Wall.  They mail you the wall template AND the frames, all you have to do is add the pics… and it’s super affordable.  They have modern frames and more traditional options.

If your house is a little more traditional, Michael’s has some great wall template galleries too.

I also really love the layout of this gallery that I borrowed from Tara Whitney‘s blog.  It is a great example of how to use lifestyle portrait photography in a REAL home.  Thanks Tara and Visty for the inspiration!  I seriously LOVE those curtains too!
